Belén Natalí, born in Buenos Aires and based in Barcelona, is beginning a new chapter after a long journey through the reggae and sound system scenes of Europe and Latin America. She is currently working on her first LP, a preview of which she will present at MMVV. In it, she unveils a sound that flows naturally through pop, R&B, jazz, dub, and trip-hop. With a distinctive voice and a strong emotional core, she creates songs that seek honesty and self-expression.
Determined to surrender herself to the ocean current, BELÉN NATALÍ sets off from her native Boedo on a creative journey that has led her, without a fixed course, to explore Caribbean shores (“Woman soldier”), the Americas (both Latin —“Santa Rosa”— and beyond —“Vision”) and Africa (“Diluvio”), until the tides brought her to the Mediterranean coast. Like the vibrant jacaranda of her Argentine childhood, now shedding its flowers, or the same tree —blooming right now— lining the streets of what is now also her Barcelona, NATALÍ’s career grows and blossoms in a frenetic, endless cycle, flowing from the most combative reggae of sound system culture to the most intimate pop with Ferran Palau, passing through hip-hop, afrobeat, rhythm’n’blues and psychedelia. Always different, yet as unmistakable as it is coherent (‘soy la misma, en el fondo’ — ‘I’m the same, deep down’, she sings in “PLAYERZ”), she keeps filling the bottle with new sounds without ever diluting her message.
