FADAS is a trio of Catalan philologists that has become the leading queer band in Catalonia. After releasing METALLIX: Afterparty, they went in just a few months from playing their first shows with a single mic, a borrowed sound card, and some miniskirts to a 40-date tour, an upgraded live set, and — yes, still — even better outfit.
FADES are so fierce, talented, and fun that they could’ve just as well been called “The Three Hexxies.” Who would’ve thought that out of a SICUE — the Spanish Erasmus — would come three mar-i-cels who, with their fruity ravanera bops, would be snatching wigs all across the Catalan-speaking world! I’ll never forget discovering their musical project at the UAB’s Literature tent, surrounded by people smoking joints at 9 a.m., when they played me a demo about sleeping with someone’s dad for revenge. I instantly knew they were the empowered bad witches we needed — like Regina George, but swapping the meanness for talent that feels like an actual spell, because what these little fairies do is pure magic.
