Verlaat is a musical project born in 2020, with various self-produced singles and EPs, which this year presents its first LP. Linked to Menorca but based in Barcelona, they aim to create songs in dialectal Catalan that combine self-reflection, critical thinking, and humor. Their music offers an ironic and personal perspective on the reality of the island and the city, with a fresh proposal and a unique identity.

In September, Vic is something wonderful. It’s wonderful for music lovers and for anyone, I hope, who has a bit of sensitivity. Beyond the Jazz Cava —which would be the friend you can always call to go out— the flood of musicians, programmers, managers, journalists, and music negotiators leaves an indelible mark on the city year after year. But it’s not all about that display of the industry that controls and can do everything. Just a few meters from Atlàntida (you only have to cross a street and pass a fountain), at the Vic conservatory, a symbol of order and rigor, you find the Adoberies concerts: the amateurs, those driven by vocation, those of the party. Such a Catalan duality: common sense and impulse, Apollo and Dionysus, the MMVV and the Adoberies. And the best bands that come through Vic, at least the ones I like, are those that can play with one foot on each side, with a clean face and a dirty one: a brightness and a darkness. And that’s what VERLAAT has, the band I present to you today: the two sides of the coin. We’ll have to go see the concert... will it be heads or tails?
